Cristiano Ronaldo talks to Pedro Pinto of CNN International about his successes to date at Real Madrid, comparisons with Manchester United and Portugal's World Cup chances.
CNN INTERNATIONAL'S PEDRO PINTO: Your goal scoring record so far for Real Madrid is impressive. Nearly a goal a game. Why do you think you've settled in so quickly in Spain?
CRISTIANO RONALDO, REAL MADRID FORWARD: Well, the things are coming very well. When I arrived, you know, it is always complicated when you come from a different league, different football. But I think I'm quite comfortable there. The team plays nice. When the team plays nice, it helps me a lot and I'm feeling very comfortable. I don't play many games for Madrid - I play like 20 games, I think - but I feel very comfortable. Of course, I want to play more games for Madrid.
PINTO: Describe the pressure that you're to play in Real Madrid. Is it more than the one you felt in Manchester United?
RONALDO: Well, it's quite different. I think here in Spain, the club Madrid has more pressure. Manchester is more quiet. Here...many people, they have a lot of press. More pressure in Madrid I think. But it's not a problem.
PINTO: So how do you stay calm if there's so much pressure around you?
RONALDO: Well, I played six years for Manchester...i don't know. You have to be calm all the time. You have to do what you do, like to work, to train well, to train hard, to believe that the thing is coming nice. I feel good. I don't care about the pressure. I have always played with pressure. For me it's another challenge, and I have to beat that.
PINTO: Why did Portugal struggle so much to qualify for the World Cup?
RONALDO: This year it's quite difficult the qualification for Portugal. But this is no problem. This is to have more power to do the World Cup, better, more stronger. If you see the England last year, two years ago they didn't go to Euro...and France -- I think it's the competitive of the teams around the Portugal and the qualification is quite tough. But we passed the qualification, and the Portugal, I think, is more stronger than -- in the qualification.
PINTO: I was looking at some stats and you didn't score a single goal in qualifying, Cristiano. Why is that?
RONALDO: I keep the goal for the World Cup. Well, this is the moment we have to work, and I'm really, really confident, and I look forward to score goals in the World Cup. - CNN
