Short and sassy are the main ideas behind eclipse's latest line. Expect lots of curve-hugging dresses, high-shine tights, off-the-shoulder tops complemented by strappy high heels and sexy booties.
Inspired by the strength and power of a woman, the collection has influences of the Roman era where goddesses rule as well as the mighty 80s where women are the urban warriors.
Dresses play a major role, either very fitted or slightly loose with a relaxed yet chic silhouette. Best of all, some of the ready-to-wear pieces work double duty. For instance, tunic tops can morph into short dresses while loose-cut blousons can be worn boatneck-style or with one shoulder exposed.
Separates such as latex-like leggings, sequined tops and mini skirts are perennial favourites at eclipse this season. So, if you don't really have killer figures, it's about time that you get in shape! For health reasons and of course, to slink into eclipse's cool creations.
In terms of colour, black dominates. This versatile hue is accented with brights like berry red, aubergine and saffron. Fabrics come in either fluid satins, soft jerseys or sensuous silk peau de soie.
Some of these materials are enhanced with hammered textures or armour-like embellishments to give the outfits a touch of dazzle and drama.
No surprise why the local label designed by Sonny San has chosen strong personalities Xandria Ooi and Daphne Iking to front its advertising campaign. Having directed the ads season after season, eclipse creative director, San says he wanted to break away from the conventional model shoots to give the collection a fresh appeal and identity.
"With such a bold theme this season, the brand needed a campaign to match. Xandria and Daphne immediately came to mind. Xandria's so inspirational, vivacious and independent. She's already penned her first book and has produced as well as starred in her own TV show.
"Daphne is beautiful and fearless. She's a successful career woman and a young mom too. She embodies the harmonious contradiction of femininity and strength," San explains. It's almost as if the collaboration was meant to be as both celebrities have always been fans of the brand.
"My high school and college prom dresses were Sonny San, and yes I still have them!" exclaims Ooi.
Iking adds eclipse's clothes reflect here character - "tastefully quirky but easy to manage since I'm always on the go".
"Recently I jokingly told my manager on how I would love to work with a fashion label like eclipse some day. A week after that I received a call from eclipse! I'm extremely honoured, proud and excited to be given this opportunity".
