No, it's not a monkey in a space suit; neither do I mean the song by popular band Placebo. It is sadly, a craze that's popular in the U.S, Britain and France. The craze was once known as 'The Choking Game'.

'Space Monkey' is a practice which involves squeezing the carotid arteries in the neck to restrict the flow of blood to the head and then releasing the pressure which leads to a sudden rush of oxygen to the brain and giving a feeling of euphoria.

Its' new identity and rise in popularity among teenagers easily gained through video sharing makes it spread like wild fire.

The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has claimed that in the last ten years 86 children may have died in the UK playing 'the choking game'.
